Sizing & Fit
How do I choose the right collar size?
Measure directly around the lower part of your dog’s neck where the collar naturally rests. Keep the measuring tape comfortably snug and make sure you can slide two fingers underneath it.
Select the collar size whose measurement range includes your dog’s actual neck measurement. Do not choose a size based only on breed, weight, or the total length of an existing collar.
How should a dog collar fit?
A properly fitted collar should feel secure without restricting your dog’s movement or breathing. You should be able to slide two fingers comfortably between the collar and your dog’s neck.
Check the fit regularly, especially for puppies, growing dogs, and dogs whose weight or coat thickness changes.
What if my dog is between sizes?
Please contact us with your dog’s exact neck measurement before ordering. Because collar widths and adjustment ranges vary between sizes and styles, we’ll help you choose the safest and most comfortable option.
Can I choose a size based on my dog’s breed or weight?
Breed and weight can provide a general idea, but they are not reliable enough for selecting a collar. Dogs of the same breed can have very different neck measurements. Always measure your dog’s neck before ordering.
About Our Collars
Are Riparo collars made from genuine leather?
Yes. Our padded collars are made from genuine cowhide leather with soft sheepskin leather padding on the interior. The materials are selected to provide a combination of durability, comfort, and timeless leather style.
What type of hardware do the collars use?
Our classic padded leather collars use sturdy stainless-steel buckles and D-rings designed to resist rust and corrosion. Select styles also include a separate ring for attaching your dog’s ID tag.
Are Riparo collars suitable for strong or large dogs?
Our heavy-duty leather collars are constructed with strong leather, reinforced stitching, and durable metal hardware for everyday walking and outdoor use. Collar widths increase with size to provide broader support for larger dogs.
Always choose the correct size and inspect the collar and hardware regularly for signs of damage or excessive wear.
Will the leather soften over time?
Yes. Genuine leather naturally becomes softer and develops character with regular use. Some collars may feel firm when new, but they should gradually conform more comfortably to your dog’s neck.
Natural variations in grain and color are part of genuine leather and make each collar slightly unique.
Care & Everyday Use
Can my dog’s leather collar get wet?
Occasional exposure to light rain is generally fine, but genuine leather should not be soaked or used for swimming. If the collar becomes wet, remove it and allow it to air-dry naturally while lying flat.
Do not place it in a dryer or near a heater, as excessive heat can dry out, shrink, or damage the leather.
How do I clean and condition the collar?
Wipe away dirt with a soft, slightly damp cloth and allow the collar to air-dry. When the leather begins to feel dry, apply a small amount of leather conditioner according to the conditioner’s instructions.
Avoid bleach, household cleaners, washing machines, and prolonged soaking.
Should my dog wear the collar all the time?
That depends on your dog’s needs and routine. Regardless of how often it is worn, inspect the leather, stitching, buckle, and D-ring regularly. Replace the collar if you notice cracking, loose hardware, damaged stitching, or other signs that could affect its safety.

Where do you ship from?
Orders are carefully packed and shipped from our warehouse in Seattle, Washington.
How much does U.S. shipping cost?
Standard shipping is free on U.S. orders. Express shipping is available.
Standard U.S. transit time is typically 3–8 business days, while express transit time is typically 2–3 business days after shipment. These are estimates and may be affected by carrier delays.

Will I receive tracking information?
Yes. Once your order ships, you’ll receive a confirmation email containing your tracking number. Please allow some time for the carrier’s tracking system to update after the label is created.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. International shipping rates are calculated at checkout based on the destination. Estimated international transit time is typically 8–16 business days after shipment.
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, or import fees charged by their local authorities.
Returns & Customer Care
What is your return policy?
Eligible items may be returned within 30 days of delivery. Products must be unworn, unused, and returned with their original tags and packaging.
